Mark is an Associate and Lighting Consultant to the Royal National Theatre and Lighting Advisor to the Almeida Theatre.
He was the recipient of the 1992, 1995, 2000 and 2002 Laurence Olivier awards for Lighting Design and in 2006 won a Tony award for The History Boys on Broadway.
Mark has lit extensively for all the major theatre, opera and dance companies in the UK and has lit over 50 West End productions notably The Sound of Music, Chitty Bang Bang Chitty, The Iceman Cometh, The Judas Kiss, Copenhagen, Democracy, Hamlet, The Real Thing (all also on Broadway), Amy’s View, Our House, Up for Grabs, On an Average Day, Tonight’s the Night, Grease (also UK tours), West Side Story (also UK tours), Spend Spend Spend, Neville’s Island, Follies, Mutiny, Passion, A Few Good Men, As You Desire Me, Rowan Atkinson in Revue (also Broadway and world tour). Other theatre productions include Sunset Boulevard (UK tour), French and Saunders Live in 2000, the League of Gentlemen’s A Local Show for Local People.
Work in opera includes productions for ENO (On the Town), the Royal Opera (Sophie’s Choice), WNO, Opera North, Glyndebourne Festival Opera.
Dance productions includes work for LCDT, Rambert Dance Company, the Royal Ballet, Scottish Ballet, Northern Ballet, SWRB.
Television and film productions include The Tall Guy, Rowan Atkinson in Boston, Under Milk Wood, Wales Millennium Centre opening Royal Gala.
Architectural work: Royal Court redevelopment, Madame Tussaud’s (London, Las Vegas and New York).
